Dokuwiki for well gedacht - dokuwiki is lighter than
media wiki
wikipedia for example is an instance of mediawiki
the goal is to make a zine out of what has been published
on well gedacht's wiki
there are a lot of fandom wiki,
In this wiki we added 2 plugins to be able to write css
in the wiki and export it as .txt
and another one to write html and be able to import the
stylesheet in another wiki post.
it allows us to post the stylsheet as content on the wiki
but also break the one 2 one relationship between a markdown and it's stylsheet, a fil could use multiple
stylesheet, and a stylesheet can be use by multiple documents even in other dokuwiki instances.

Offline presentation by Brendon: inspired by collectives
and places in Rotterdam or Brussels doing intersectionnal, political and technologies related things, they
realised that the place was not online network accessible and decided to call it Offline, used to be a
restaurant, a lot of cooking happens here !
Well Gedacht publishing presentation :
They do artist books, publications - the research is

They will give a second workshop to present the tool they
are hosting on a home server. Also a workshop february 23rd and 24th to learn how to host static website on raspberry. -

Alessandro's notes
Website is the articulation of form and content.
An interface is a shared boundary across which 2 or more
separate components of a computer system.
Designing for the web is inherently problematic, because it
is not fixed, it will move and be reinterpreted —> designing for a multitude of unkown canvases. Css is not a
bout control but more suggestions, embrace fluidity as a feature
Being interested in the decalrative art of things —>
Ursula Le Guin: Words are events, they do things, change
things.
In desinging a website, one deals with non-lineariry and
fragmentation
The open standard of the Web is in the hands of people from
Google, Apple, Adobe and a bit Amazon. There are power dynamics also in the open standard. Controlling the
standards is very important.
Raw as no-CSS, default system html
A sensibility to declarativeness.

genius (lyrics database) / where you can inetract with text when giving
examples of interpretation
-- is it a platform if only the people who run it can
publish on it ? -- e.g. is my website a platform? for me yes but for anyone else probably not
is a publihing platform anything where you can have
an account
'for me a platform is an empty space that relies on what
people do there'
Criterias to "be a platform":
-space to do stuff, owned by someone else benefiting from your activity --> creating user generated content (sound like renting or farming and the profit goes to the
owner) = there is a contract between user & owner (webhosting)
- openness
-Private-owned, enclosured digital "land" - Enclosure of common space / platform as a physically elevated plateau
-user-customization
- access to a public - if anyone can publish, anyone can
post but no one can see then it would not be a platform
- visibility and shareability | sharing creates
visibility
- scale ? if you send an email
- Telegram channels as publishing tools
- from how many people, a group-chat becomes a
platform?
- responsability & shared governance
- social behaviour, not only about the technology and
software but also how we act toward the interface
- publishing platform != group chat
(behaviour)
- Behaviour of online crowds is affecting the digital
space
- is it designer for you to stay
- transaction - recorded in a database, central record of
transactions
--- "contribution" implies a transaction
dependancy - give your data but you depend on the
platform to be seen
small space of customisation on big platforms - instagram
caption - alt text of images
small freedom spaces
curently the term "platform" is badly viewed because of
who owns it, because
where do find space for agency ? by building our own
platforms?
is torrent a peer to peer platform ?
at what moment did we start using this word "platform" to
describe digital worlds
i might come from a metaphore that if you want to be
heard while talking or playing music for example you have to step on a platform
then peer to peer would be everyone wearing platform
shoes
book :
start talking about hub to imply
community and decentralisation
common carrier
in big platform it would be lurking and constantly
getting update - but with hub it would be more one common problem, users want to adress together - it's based on
what you want to achieve together
this criterias can be translated into visual elements
(comment section, like and share button, content published, search bar)
claim back the frontend, inspecting the private platforms
and tweaking their frontend to regain agency
the fact that the inspecting modification is possible is
because your browser receive the website

border inset = neoclassical architecture seeing doors in
the city an thinking "hhhmmm border inset"
